We’re getting closer and closer to the release of Aladdin, so it’s only right that Disney has dropped the first musical number from the film on the web. The live-action remake stars Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine and Will Smith as the Genie.
The track, “Prince Ali,” which has been a fan-favorite since the original animated flick’s release, gets a makeover from Smith. Robin Williams performed it in the original film as the Genie.

The clip has received a mixed response on social media:
NEWS FLASH Will Smith’s Prince Ali version is not as flashy because this is a live-action, NOT a cartoon. Give Will’s Genie a chance! Geesh #May24th #Aladdin pic.twitter.com/uzWNsz7C3q

They released the live action Prince Ali from Aladdin. I had low expectations but I didn’t expect to get all teary eyed and spend it missing Robin Williams so much. This just reminds me of what an astounding talent Robin was. I think they should have made this a rap song instead. https://t.co/ObPKGBvfFQ

I should say that Will Smith isn’t bad.
We were just lucky to expierence Robin Williams. His version is so dynamic.https://t.co/b8x0sMur07

Disney, just go the hell back to using singers for the song parts. The little bit of pitch correction you put on Dwayne Johnson’s singing in Moana, I could handle it, but this Prince Ali clip is just straight up autotune. It’s insulting to literally everyone
