Walker Scobell revealed that in Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Percy and Annabeth are going through growing pains in their friendship and overall relationship. The pairing is known by the joint name of “Percabeth” by the fandom.

Scobell told Blavity/Shadow and Act Managing Editor Trey Mangum during our cast interview that Percy and Annabeth differ in ways that now pose issues in how they interact with each other. Their differences get particularly tested since some of Season 2’s journey includes Percy and Annabeth being apart.

Walker Scobell talks ‘Percabeth’

“Percy’s pretty good at making friends, I’d say, but Annabeth isn’t really good at making friends, and it’s kind of hard for them both,” he said. “They got to a place last season that they didn’t really establish [what they are to each other] together. And so, starting off this season, it’s like they don’t really know where they stand with each other.”

“I don’t think they’re at a point where they know they have feelings, but I think there’s something there that’s like they missed each other and they don’t really want to talk about that yet,” he said.
