Today show co-host Sheinelle Jones has addressed her absence from the show.
According to Deadline, Jones, who hosts the third hour of the Today show, announced on social media that she’s taking time off to handle a family health matter.
“Hi everybody…I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter,” she wrote on the platform. “It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today show family, but also to all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle.”
Sheinelle Jones Shares That the Health Matter Does Not Involve Her or Her Children
Jones has not provided details about the health issue, but a source close to her told People that the situation is serious. They confirmed the matter does not involve Jones herself or her three children: 14-year-old Kayin and 12-year-old twins, Clara and Uche.
“Sheinelle appreciates the support she’s received from fans and viewers in her absence,” the source told People. “She’s especially grateful for her tight-knit Today show family and co-hosts for all their love during this sensitive time.”

Today co-host Savannah Guthrie referenced Jones’ Instagram post on the show Wednesday morning.
“We miss her too,” Guthrie said.
Craig Melvin added, “We are so looking forward to having you back.”
