Scream 7 has officially lined up Jasmin Savoy Brown to return. She joins her on-screen brother, Mason Gooding, whose return to the franchise was for the film was announced back in December.
Variety broke the news, noting that she is set to reprise his role from Scream and Scream 6 as Mindy Meeks-Martin, the first queer character in the iconic horror franchise.
The Yellowjackets actress is the fourth legacy star following Gooding, Courteney Cox and Neve Campbell to join the pic after an overhaul and cast changes after Spyglass Media Group ousted Melissa Barrera from the lead role of Sam Carpenter after her comments in support of Palestine.
Jenna Ortega also is not returning as Sam Carpenter, attributed to scheduling conflicts, making Gooding and Brown the only members of the ‘Core Four’ (referring to the new primary actors in the franchise beginning with 2022’s Scream aka Scream 5) returning. Christopher Landon, who was set to direct the film, also parted ways with the project. Kevin Williamson, who has written most films in the franchise, is now in the director’s chair.

New actors to the franchise for the seventh film are Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Anna Camp and Sam Rechner.
The same day of Brown’s casting, it was also revealed that Joel McHale will play the husband of Campbell’s Sidney Prescott.
