Timothée Chalamet is a table tennis player who becomes a superstar and, perhaps, embroiled in some dirty business in the upcoming A24 film Marty Supreme.
There aren’t many details surrounding this film; according to A24’s logline, Chalamet plays Marty Mauser, “a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness.”
But if you watch the trailer, you’ll see that Marty is someone who believes that playing table tennis will bring him to the heights of success, even if no one else believes it. But eventually, he gets a deal he can’t refuse, and it leads to infamy.
Tyler, The Creator (going by his full name Tyler Okonma here) also stars opposite Chalamet. The film is loosely based on the life of professional table tennis player Marty Reisman, who rose to prominence in the 1940s.
Who else stars in ‘Marty Supreme’?
The film’s cast also includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’Zion, Kevin O’Leary (aka “Mr Wonderful” on ABC’s Shark Tank), Abel Ferrara and Fran Drescher.
The film is directed by Josh Safdie and written by Safdie and Ronald Bronstein. Chalamet serves as producer with Safdie, Bronstein, Anthony Katagas and Eli Bush.
When does the film come out in theaters?
Marty Supreme comes to theaters on Dec. 25.
