48 Hours in Vegas, the upcoming Lionsgate film on Dennis Rodman’s trip to Vegas during the 1998 NBA Finals, has tapped Lakeith Stanfield to star in the film, replacing Jonathan Majors.
The film was one of the several projects that parted ways with Majors amid his legal issues stemming from an incident with his then-girlfriend in December 2023.
Per Lionsgate, “The film is inspired by the untold story of Dennis Rodman’s legendary trip to Las Vegas during the 1998 NBA Finals—just as the Rodman’s Chicago Bulls are on the verge of completing their second consecutive three-peat championship in eight years. 48 Hours in Vegas will take audiences through two whirlwind days in Sin City and Rodman’s madcap (possibly true) adventures.”
Rick Famuiywa has been announced as the director
Rick Famuiywa has also come on board as director amid Stanfield’s casting, and he will write a new draft of the screenplay, which was initially scripted by Jordan VanDina.
Producers are Lord Miller’s Phil Lord, Chris Miller, as well as Aditya Sood.
Ari Lubet, Dennis Rodman, and Lucy Kitada are executive producers, and Nikki Baida will co-produce. Meredith Wieck and Pavan Kalidindi are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.
