The upcoming documentary series, High Horse: The Black Cowboy, executive produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, has dropped its first trailer.
The three-part doc “confronts and reclaims the Wild West while revealing the story of the Black cowboy — a history that has largely been untold.”
Peele said in a statement, “I’m grateful to Monkeypaw for amplifying the powerful voices and long-standing culture of Black Cowboys and Cowgirls through High Horse: The Black Cowboy, on Peacock. Their history is inseparable from the story of our country — and this project aims to honor and celebrate their lasting legacy.”
Who is interviewed for the doc?
Interviews in the doc include Peele, Bun B, Blanco Brown, Pam Grier, Lori Harvey, INK, Tina Knowles, Rick Ross, Glynn Turman, Lynae Vanee and The Compton Cowboys. The project also has an original score by Raphael Saadiq.
Jason Perez is the director, and it is produced by Monkeypaw Productions and Universal Television Alternative Studio, a division of Universal Studio Group.
Other executive producers are Win Rosenfeld, Keisha Senter, Jamal Watson from Monkeypaw Productions, Mari Keiko Gonzalez, Liz Yale Marsh, Kadine Anckle, Tom Casciato, Sacha Jenkins and Keith McQuirter.
