Culpa Mía, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video back in 2023, serves as the first in a planned trilogy adapting the Culpables saga, which was initially written by Mercedes Ron on the social storytelling site Wattpad. Now, part two of the saga has finally arrived, in the form of Culpa Tuya, AKA Your Fault. The movie picks up shortly after its predecessor left off and sees Nick and Noah (the central love interests of the narrative), facing a wide array of new challenges as a couple. Whether you’re looking to unpack some of the wild antics of the film, or simply searching for an outlet to process how it all concludes, we’ve got you covered, with a comprehensive look into the ending of Culpa Tuya.

What Happens in ‘Culpa Tuya’?

Much like the first film in the franchise, Culpa Tuya sees teenage step-siblings Nick and Noah engaging in a forbidden romance to the chagrin of their parents. While Culpa Mía focuses on the wild circumstances that push the pair together, the new movie sees them facing a myriad of issues as they grow and mature out of their teenage years and into young adulthood. This includes efforts from their parents to split them up, interventions from crazed exes and even a shocking plot of familial lies and backstabbing. Culpa Tuya kicks off one year after the conclusion of the first movie, following the death of Noah’s father.

As we quickly learn, Nick was sent away shortly after the incident and made to take an internship at a law firm in California. Though he spent a lot of time thinking about Noah, the distance between them meant that he couldn’t be there to help her work through her complicated feelings about her abusive dad. When Nick finally returns, Noah believes that their relationship can finally thrive, though it turns out to be the beginning of the end for the young couple. For starters, Noah’s college roommate Briar has a long and complicated relationship with Nick that makes her question his loyalty and trustworthiness. Beyond that, Nick’s mother Anabel seeks Noah’s help with a scheme, knowing that her son hates her and doesn’t want to see her again.

How Does Briar Factor In?

As we slowly learn throughout Culpa Tuya‘s narrative, Briar used to date Nick long before Noah came into his life. The couple were inseparable and Briar even used to ride shotgun when Nick would embark upon his illegal street races. One day, Nick crashed his car, severely injuring Briar and sending her to the hospital. Rather than visiting her and nursing her back to health, Nick abandoned Briar completely and began dating Noah shortly thereafter. Briar was so hurt by Nick’s ghosting and betrayal that she had to be admitted to a mental health facility to get over him, leaving her with physical and emotional scars that would last a lifetime.

Just when Briar thought she could finally move on from her former boyfriend, she learns that her new college roommate is none other than Noah, the very woman who took her place. Though she initially tries to look past her feelings for Nick, Briar eventually succumbs to her desire for revenge and reaches out to Nick’s mother specifically to create strife in Nick and Noah’s relationship. She also introduces Noah to a man named Michael and takes measures to convince Noah to cheat on her boyfriend with him.

Anabel’s Tragic History

One of the most tragic characters in Culpa Tuya is Nick’s mother, Anabel. Before Briar reaches out to her, all the audience knows about Anabel is that she cheated on Nick’s father and abandoned her son to go live with a new man. This has left Nick with long-lasting abandonment issues and a series of uncomfortable hangups regarding women. Noah knows that Nick despises his mother more than anyone in the world, so she’s left quite shocked when she meets Anabel, who turns out to be a very kind and loving person. As it turns out, all of the nasty things Noah has heard about Anabel are false, and carefully orchestrated by Nick’s father and paternal grandfather to cut her out of the family’s wealth.

While it is true that Anabel began seeing another man while married to Nick’s dad, she only did so after she discovered that her husband had been sleeping with another woman – Noah’s mother. As soon as she asked for a divorce, Anabel’s father-in-law launched a nasty blackmail campaign to prevent her from ever seeing a dime of the Leister family fortune while her husband prevented her from demanding shared custody of Nick. This means that all the time Nick spent loving his father and hating his mother was built on a lie; this is something that Noah feels should be revealed to him.

Towards the end of Culpa Tuya, the main characters convene at an upscale garden party. This includes Nick and his entire family, along with Noah, Briar and eventually Anabel. At the request of Nick and Noah’s parents, a young woman named Sofia is also in attendance. The couple plans to push Nick and Sofia together to split their children up and prevent them from continuing to date. Unbeknownst to Nick and Noah, Briar has arranged to sneak Anabel into the party, where she plans to reveal the truth to her son. After Briar opens up the back gate, Nick is dismayed to see his mother for the first time in years and immediately demands that she leave the premises. Though Noah is caught off guard by Anabel’s arrival, she asks Nick to hear her out, further driving a wedge between the young couple.

Unfortunately, Nick doesn’t seem to be moved by his mother’s sob story. He seems to feel that the true story would upend his world too much, causing him to ignore reality and remain ignorant of his family’s deception. Anabel shocks the Leisters by revealing that she and Nick’s dad have another biological child who was born shortly after their divorce. She even has a paternity test to prove it, thanks to a little help from Noah. The whole situation leaves Nick so furious that he kisses Sofia, just to appease his father and twist the knife in Noah’s heart. After he storms out of the party, Nick’s best friend Lion catches up with him and gives him a pep talk about all the good times he shared with Noah. Lion reminds Nick that Noah has changed his life for the better, inspiring him to apologize to her.

What Comes of Nick and Noah’s Relationship?

When Nick returns to the party, Briar smugly informs him that Noah has already left. Nick quickly catches onto the fact that Briar is intentionally sabotaging his relationship, and demands answers from her. Briar reveals that she is still hurt from Nick ghosting her years ago while she was in the hospital, and adds the additional bombshell that she was pregnant but lost the baby while recovering from her injuries. Before Nick can properly process this information, Briar reveals that she sent Noah to Michael’s house, which causes Nick to rapidly jump into his car and jet over there. By the time Nick arrives at Michael’s place, it’s already too late, as Noah and Michael have already hooked up.

Noah feels ashamed of herself for being with Michael but folded during a moment of weakness when she needed a shoulder to cry on. Even though Nick kissed Sofia in front of everyone, he is disgusted with Noah and leaves Michael’s place without saying a word. As Culpa Tuya comes to a close, it looks like Nick and Noah’s relationship is officially over. Though this should bring a smile to their parents, both Noah’s mom and Nick’s dad seem depressed about the way things shook out, causing them both to rethink their approach toward their respective relationships with their kids. In the end, Nick begins packing his bags to move to London for a lucrative legal career, as Noah visits her father’s grave and finally begins to unpack the trauma she associates with him.

For now, we’ll just have to wait until the third film in the franchise, Our Fault, to see how things truly conclude for the young and emotional couple. Though their parents seem to have come around, there will still be many obstacles to face if Nick and Noah ever do decide to get back together.
