Rapper Dave Blunts, who has been opening up about his health struggles in recent months, performed with an oxygen tank as he paid tribute to the late Juice WRLD at Juice WRLD Day 2024 in Chicago.
As he took the stage for the annual event, which was held on what would have been Juice WRLD’s 26th birthday, Blunt sat on a couch and performed some of his most popular tracks.
“I do this for Juice. I do this for me,” Blunts said as he finished his set, per Where Is The Buzz (via Yahoo!). “We keep going, no matter what.”

Most of the crowd at the United Center appeared to respond with cheers for the rapper. However, more critical responses followed as clips from the concert surfaced on social media. Many social media users showed concern for Blunts’ health and considered his tribute as an insult to Juice WRLD, who died from an overdose in 2019.

Some critics also took issue with the quality of the performance.
“He is just singing over a recording of him singing. How did we grow to accept this?” one person wrote.
I know this is common but he is just singing over a recording of him singing. How did we grow to accept this? I have seen many other performances like this where the artist just takes breaks and let’s the recording play.

Dave Blunts’ ongoing back and forth with Snoop Dogg
Blunts is of course well-aware of the constant criticism he faces from the public. That’s why he specifically used his platform at Juice WRLD Day to deliver a message to Snoop Dogg, who once told the rapper to “put down the chicken wings and Tata chips,” per Where is The Buzz.
“I see the big dog talking. Snoop, you think you funny? You don’t know what it’s like to fight for your life every damn day,” Blunt said at the concert. “I got demons, and a tank to prove it. Don’t come for me when you have been blessed enough to be here that long, respect the struggle.”

Blunts, who has talked extensively about his effort to lose weight, said in one of his Instagram posts that he “is making an effort to change.”
“I’m eating fruit And nowadays the only thing my double cup is full of is water!” he wrote.
