Brandy is offering an apology to her fans after she unexpectedly walked off stage during her performance in Chicago on Saturday. The concert was part of her co-headlining run with Monica on The Boy Is Mine Tour.
In a statement she released on Sunday, Brandy said she stepped off the stage when she “experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint.”
“To my dear fans in Chicago, thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and—most importantly—your prayers,” Brandy said in a statement. “I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance.”
Despite not feeling OK, Brandy said she tried to come back and continue the show, but the logistics made it difficult to return.
“With having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical,” she said. “Unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production. I really appreciate everyone’s best efforts.”
Later that night, Brandy said she went to see a doctor nearby because she wanted to take the proper precaution moving forward.
“I look forward to returning to the stage—stronger and more grateful than ever—alongside my girl, Monica, tonight in Indianapolis. With all my love, Brandy,” the singer wrote.

According to Deadline, Brandy’s unexpected exit happened while performing with Monica during the latest stop of The Boy Is Mine Tour. Fans at the United Center were left confused when Brandy suddenly exited the stage, leaving Monica by herself.
“Give me one second y’all I gotta get my—,” Brandy said before walking off stage, per Deadline.
In her statement on Sunday, Brandy thanked Monica for staying composed during the bizarre moment. The singer said she’s “deeply grateful to my sister, Monica, for stepping up with such grace and professionalism and the entire crew for their continued care and support.”
