Chile, we are always here for a good auntie showdown. Remember when Anita Baker and Cheryl Lynn drove the timeline to tears over their “twitter beef?” That will forever go down as a classic moment. Over the years, it’s been proven time and time again that no set group of people is shadier than our iconic soul singing divas and honestly, we’re here for it.

Two singers that have had some issues for a while are Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick. If you remember, tension rose between the two back around the death of Whitney Houston five years ago. Warwick allegedly told funeral-goers that Franklin was in attendance, before realizing that she was there. She also referred to Franklin as Houston’s godmother, sharing the fact that “she loves Whitney as if she were born to her.” In actuality, Franklin missed Houston’s funeral because she was suffering from swollen feet, and was booked to play Radio City Music Hall that same night. She chose not to address Warwick’s statement because there was a lot going on around Houston, Bobby Brown, their estate, etc. and she did not want to add to anything.

Well, Auntie ‘Retha got time today.

According to the Associated Press, Franklin reached out to them to make a statement via telephone and fax to call Warwick out. She went on to say, “At this point, it isn’t about an apology, it’s about libel.” Franklin added, “We’ve never been friends..and I don’t think that Dionne has ever liked me.”

The two came face-to-face during a screening of a Clive Davis documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival last week and there was no love at all. Franklin told AP that Warwick said to her, “give me a hug,” and in response, Franklin said, “oh hell no. You couldn’t be serious.”

In the meantime, Auntie Dionne refuses to “dignify” Franklin’s messiness with a response.

Fax, swollen feet, the shade?? Please hold, we’re inconsolable.
