Dear Black History Month, I want you to know that we are counting on you. We're only a few weeks in, and already 2017 is threatening to try our entire soul. We need you now more than ever to come through for us with that potent fairy dust to sprinkle magic on all 28 of these days.
You came out the gate hard on February 1st, bestowing upon us a set of royal twins, and for that we are truly grateful.
But, we’re going to need more from you this year. Desperate times call for desperate measures. We need unprecedented levels of blackness. We need Kid Fury and Crissle uncensored, five nights a week on primetime television. We need Michelle Obama rocking box braids while swimming in the Blue Nile. We need In Living Color reloaded with Donald Glover and Jessica Williams. We need Oprah announcing Trump's impeachment live on 60 minutes. In this month of February, the year of our Lord, two thousand and seventeen, we need you to come through with a fresh anointing to blot out this orange madness! You got us?
Thanks, Cookie. In the meantime…
Here are 17 of the dopest, most empowering, bliggity blackest songs to make you feel good.
